French Macarons
Elegant and delicate almond-based cookies with a sweet filling.

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup almond flour
- 3 large egg whites, room temperature
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional)
- Filling of choice (e.g., buttercream, ganache, or jam)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Sift powdered sugar and almond flour together.
- Beat the egg whites until foamy.
- Gradually add granulated sugar and beat to stiff peaks.
- Fold dry ingredients into the meringue, adding food coloring if desired.
- Pipe circles onto baking sheets and tap to release air bubbles.
- Let sit for 30 minutes to form a skin, then bake for 15-18 minutes.
- Cool completely before filling and assembling.
